Public Gallery Support & Advocacy
The Chartwell Project encompasses a wide range of support for public art galleries, seen as gymnasiums for the mind, giving access to art for us all.
The Chartwell Collection is a public collection which has always been under the care of the professional expertise provided by the public art gallery staff. As a loan collection, curators from public art galleries in New Zealand, Australia and further afield have accessed works for exhibition.
Chartwell has also supported a range of public art galleries initiatives around New Zealand including art foundations, redevelopment projects, start-ups, exhibition development, publications and education programmes.
Some recent support has included:
- The Auckland Art Gallery Foundation
-
Adam Art Gallery, University of Victoria, Wellington - The Chartwell Galleries
- Objectspace - The Chartwell Gallery
- Artspace Aotearoa
-
Te Uru Contemporary Art Gallery - exhibition and programme/education support
-
City Gallery Wellington - education projects and family days
-
A range of artist-run spaces and smaller art initiatives around New Zealand, including Enjoy Contemporary Art Space in Wellington, Blue Oyster Art Project Space in Dunedin and The Physics Room in Christchurch.
