Creative visual thinking is fundamental to us all as human beings as we strive to understand our sense of self and the world. Chartwell seeks to deepen understanding about the importance of art and creative thinking for our future and our wellbeing.

Making

Chartwell supports artists as they make and think. Making is an active and connected process, involving the interaction of intention, intuition and intellect with the mediums of the world. Chartwell is making too - making a difference through philanthropy and enabling access to creative activities and research.

Borrowing Works

Works from the Chartwell Collection, held on long term loan at the Auckland Art Gallery, are available for loans to other art institutions, both in New Zealand and internationally.

It is central to the Collection's philosophy to function as an active and open resource for use by curators as it reinforces Chartwell's aims to offer access to and education about contemporary art to a wide community.

This process is managed by the registration staff at Auckland Art Gallery and operates within the loan policies of the Auckland Art Gallery, so to enquire about loaning of works, please contact the Collections Registrar Claire Olsen for information.
