Description
Susan Te Kahurangi King is a prolific New Zealand artist whose drawings have been exhibited internationally. Although King has not spoken since she was aged eight, she has communicated her vision with thousands of drawings created since the 1950s.
In this work, bathers with hooded eyes are overshadowed by masked and claw-footed humanoids who float rather ominously above them. Such graphic drama is a characteristic of King’s drawings, in which surprising, sinister and delightful imagery are often mixed together in unexpected ways.
