Star Gossage

Star Gossage is a painter using film, theatre and poetry as a part of her creative practice. Influenced by the art careers of her parents, Peter and Tilly Gossage, she studied at Otago Polytechnic and graduated with a Diploma of Fine Arts in 1995.

The natural world influences the colour palette of her works – made up of pigments like fish oils, burnt kauri gum, clay, lime and earth. The female figures that often emerge in her paintings reference herself, whānau (family) and the spiritual essence of wāhinetanga (womanhood).
