Derrick Cherrie
Derrick Cherrie's practice focuses on sculpture and installation, often utilising the forms of everyday objects and household furniture in an attempt to defamiliarise the familiar. He was previously the Director of the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, Queensland, Australia, and the Head of the Elam School of Art, University of Auckland. In 2024, he co-founded Superpartner gallery in Arrowtown.
Cherrie’s works have been exhibited throughout New Zealand and internationally, including shows in Korea, Singapore, Sao Paolo, Shanghai, and Sydney. He is represented in numerous public and private collections.
