Brent Harris
Brent Harris was born in Palmerston North, New Zealand in 1956, in 1981 he moved to Australia, and he currently lives and works in Melbourne. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Art from Victorian College of the Arts, and a Diploma of Art and Design from Footscray College of TAFE, Melbourne. His work has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions throughout Australia and New Zealand, including recent shows at Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū, Robert Heald Gallery, Wellington, Tolarno Galleries, Melbourne, and Martin Browne Contemporary, Sydney. He has been the recipient of numerous grants and residencies, including a 2008 Residency in Rome, awarded by the Australia Council, a 2004 Residency in Singapore, awarded by the Tyler Print Institute, and a1999 Residency at Nagasawa Art Park, Japan. His work is represented in public and private collections across Australia and New Zealand, including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney; Art Gallery of South Australia; Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth; Christchurch Art Gallery; as well as the Department of prints and Drawings at the British Museum, London.
