Bill Brown
Born in Cowra, New South Wales, in 1945 Brown was awarded a diploma from the National Arts School, Sydney, after studying from 1961-1967, and became a lecturer there from 1969-1974. He has also lectured at Sydney University and Sydney College of the Arts. Brown has held more than 20 solo exhibitions since 1968 and he is currently represented by Janet Clayton Gallery. His work has been featured in prestigious group exhibitions including the 4th Biennale of Sydney (curated by William Wright) and Australian Perspecta ’85 (curated by Tony Bond).
Brown’s work is held in major Australian public galleries including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of South Australia, Museum of Contemporary Art, regional gallery and university collections.
