Glen Hayward was born in 1974 in Auckland New Zealand and is known for his sculptures of everyday, mass-produced items. Carved from wood and painted exactly as they were as found objects, they masquerade as the real. Hayward holds a Doctorate of Fine Arts from Auckland University and is an arts tutor at the Rawene Campus of North Tech College. He has exhibited in major galleries in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, with recent solo exhibitions at City Gallery Wellington, Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu, McCahon house open studio, Auckland Arts Festival, and Paul Nache Gallery Gisborne. He has been awarded residencies in New Zealand and abroad.
